Cliffside Fishing

Just a short walk from camp, the cliffs offer an ideal spot for those who wish to try their hand at fishing independently. Equipped with fishing rods provided on-site, guests can cast into the Arctic waters and likely catch fresh cod, enjoying a quiet moment surrounded by Kiattua’s pristine fjords. This simple, peaceful experience connects you with the daily rhythm of Greenland’s wilderness.

Sea Urchin Gathering in Amitsuarsuk Fjord

Set out by boat into the quiet waters of Amitsuarsuk Fjord, where the Arctic sea holds its hidden treasures. After a scenic 15-minute boat ride, we’ll arrive at a spot where sea urchins rest on the ocean floor, between 2 to 5 meters deep at low tide. Equipped with nets, you’ll have the opportunity to gather these unique urchins, their vibrant colors and textures reflecting Greenland’s marine life. Later, these sea urchins will be carefully prepared at camp, bringing the taste of the fjord into a meal that harmonizes with the surrounding wilderness.

Hot-Smoked Fish on Wilderness Cliffs

Set out to find the perfect spot along Kiattua’s wild cliffs, where fresh fish is transformed into an Arctic delicacy. Once a scenic site is chosen, a bonfire is prepared, and fresh leaves are added to create a thick, aromatic smoke. With the fish carefully placed over the smoldering fire and covered to capture the smoke, a simple yet flavorful dish is crafted in about 15 minutes. This experience can be combined with a hike through Amitsuarsuk Fjord or a visit to Uummannaq Island and is complemented by dishes prepared by the chef back at camp, making it a true taste of Greenland’s wilderness.

Traditional Seagull Egg Gathering

Join us for a rare experience that connects you to Greenlandic tradition and the Arctic’s seasonal rhythm. In the narrow window before mid-June, we take a short 15-minute boat ride to a small island near camp, where seagull nests rest on the ground. Here, we carefully gather fresh eggs—a practice that has sustained Greenlandic communities for generations. Collecting eggs within this brief timeframe respects the birds' natural cycles, allowing them to lay new eggs for hatching. Back at camp, the chef will prepare the eggs alongside complementary dishes, offering a taste that’s both wild and refined.

Traditional Hand-Fishing for Arctic Char

Experience the thrill of fishing the Inuit way by catching Arctic char by hand. Guided by a local expert, learn the three simple steps: finding char in rocky pools, tickling their belly, and making a quick grab. Keep in mind, char availability depends on seasonal rainfall, as water levels affect their presence.
After the catch, head upriver to cook the fish over a fire, using a thin rock as a pan for a truly authentic taste of Greenland.

Dine at Qooqqut Nuan

After a scenic one-hour boat ride through Greenland’s rugged fjords, arrive at Qooqqut Nuan, a secluded restaurant set in an abandoned village once home to Inuit and Viking settlers. Along the journey, you’ll have the chance to catch fresh fish, which will later be prepared as part of your meal. At Qooqqut Nuan, hosted by Mads Bek and his Thai wife Jepp, enjoy a fusion of Greenlandic ingredients with Thai-inspired flavors. Surrounded by high mountains and the quiet of the fjord, this dining experience offers both the thrill of the catch and the rare beauty of Greenland’s wilderness.

Longline fishing

Fishing for cod and halibut in the pristine waters of Disko Bay is a way of life for Greenlanders, blending tradition with sustenance. Join a local fisherman on this unique journey, where ancient long-line fishing techniques are still practiced. Using lines equipped with multiple hooks, you’ll pull in fresh fish while surrounded by the vast Arctic seascape. Upon return, our chef will prepare the fresh catch, creating a memorable dinner at camp. Please note that coordinating with fishermen can sometimes be challenging, as their primary focus is on their craft and livelihood.
