What to Expect

A 9-Night Arctic Experience

A Small Group Experience:

Limited to 10 participants, ensuring intimacy and meaningful connections.

Kiattua & Saqqaq Camps:

Stay in two distinct Arctic retreats—Kiattua’s secluded fjords and Saqqaq’s coastal village, where tradition and daily life unfold.

Guided Activities:

Hike in silence, forage for Arctic plants, and kayak among icebergs in Kiattua’s remote fjords. In Saqqaq, visit a Greenlandic village, explore an abandoned Inuit settlement, step inside a local home, and paddleboard among icebergs in Disko Bay.

Shamanic Rituals:

Led by Greenlandic shaman Rakel, blending ancient traditions with the healing wisdom of Arctic plants to support personal growth.

Plant Medicine Ceremony:

A powerful experience guided by Aniko, incorporating strong medicinal plants and soundscapes to facilitate inner exploration and healing.

Gourmet Meals:

Locally sourced Arctic-inspired cuisine, with vegetarian and vegan options available.

Kiattua Camp: A Sacred Retreat in the Arctic Wilderness

Nestled deep within Greenland’s untouched fjords and accessible only by boat, Kiattua Camp offers a secluded sanctuary for reflection, renewal, and connection with nature. Each cozy, heated tent is designed with Arctic-inspired interiors and shared by two guests.
 

Your accommodations include:

Private bathrooms with hot water and eco-friendly toiletries.
Thoughtful touches like bathrobes, slippers, and breathtaking views of the surrounding wilderness.

Saqqaq Camp:

A Cultural Haven in the Arctic

Set along the shores of Disko Bay, Saqqaq Camp offers a unique opportunity to experience life in a traditional Greenlandic fishing village while staying surrounded by Arctic wilderness. Located 800 meters from the nearest house, the camp is close enough to hear the sounds of village life yet far enough to feel immersed in nature.

Each heated expedition-style tent is private, offering a personal retreat with views of towering icebergs grounded in the sea just beyond the shoreline.

Meals

Greenland’s landscape inspires every meal. Our skilled chefs craft dishes using locally sourced ingredients, including freshly caught seafood, Arctic herbs, and seasonal berries. Vegetarian and vegan options are thoughtfully prepared, ensuring every dietary preference is met.

Whether enjoyed by the fire or packed for an adventure, each dish nourishes body and soul.

Day 1: Arrival and Intentions

Morning:

Arrive in Nuuk, where you’ll be warmly greeted by the retreat hosts. After a brief introduction, enjoy a scenic boat transfer deep into the Arctic wilderness to Kiattua Camp.

Afternoon:

Settle into your cozy heated tent with a cup of herbal tea infused with Arctic plants. Take in the serenity of your surroundings and begin to unwind.

Evening:

Begin your journey with an intention-setting ceremony. Reflect on what you hope to release and welcome during the retreat, placing meaningful items on a shared ceremonial altar.

Midnight Sun Ritual of Release:

Under Greenland’s endless light, participate in a symbolic burning ceremony, releasing what no longer serves you and setting the tone for transformation.

Day 2: Connecting with Nature

Morning:

Begin with a quiet gratitude circle, reflecting on Greenland’s gifts and setting an intention for the day ahead.

Morning Activity:

Join Rakel for a silent foraging walk, learning about Arctic plants such as Artemisia and Labrador tea. Guests collect herbs while reflecting silently on their connection to nature.

Late Morning:

Return to camp for a hands-on herbal workshop. Prepare teas and blends using the foraged plants, creating personalized sachets to take home.

Afternoon:

After lunch, Rakel introduces you to angakkuassarneq, the Greenlandic shamanic tradition, that embodies the belief that all life is interconnected and imbued with spirit. Learn about spirit helpers and power animals while experiencing traditional tools like the qilaat (drum).

Evening:

Gather around the campfire to hear ancient Inuit myths shared by Rakel, followed by quiet reflection under the Arctic sky.

Day 3: Immersion in the Arctic

Morning:

Paddle through the serene Arctic waters on a kayaking excursion among towering icebergs. Let the beauty of the landscape guide quiet personal reflection.

Lunch:

Enjoy a traditional Greenlandic BBQ, featuring grilled local meats, foraged herbs, and fresh salads prepared by the camp’s chefs.

Afternoon:

Rakel leads a shamanic spirit meditation session, including a powerful drum journey to connect with spirit helpers or ancestral guides. Participants will deepen their understanding of ancestral connections, exploring how these guides offer insight, protection, and wisdom for their spiritual journey.

Evening:

End the day by the fire, sharing stories and reflections with fellow participants.

Day 4: Transformation

Morning:

Participate in a gratitude ritual to Sila, honoring the Inuit life force of weather and nature. Using Arctic herbs, Rakel guides you through a ceremony celebrating Greenland’s natural gifts.

Afternoon (6 hours):

Aniko guides a transformative plant medicine ceremony using strong medicinal plants and immersive soundscapes. This safe and supportive session encourages deep introspection and connection.

Evening:

Conclude the day with an invigorating cold plunge followed by a relaxing soak in the Arctic hot tub, blending challenge and renewal.

Day 5: Integration and Reflection

Morning:

Start the day with gentle yoga and breathwork, to ground and prepare for integration.

Late Morning:

Meet with facilitators for one-on-one integration sessions, providing support and guidance as you process your experiences.

Afternoon:

Spend quiet time journaling, walking, or reflecting on your growth in the Arctic wilderness.

Evening:

Gather for a closing gratitude circle, sharing final insights and receiving blessings from Aniko and Rakel.

ILULISSAT & SAQQAQ

Experience Greenland’s rich cultural heritage, the breathtaking landscapes of Disko Bay, and the tranquil beauty of the Arctic wilderness in one of the most remote and stunning locations on Earth.

Day 6: From Kiattua to Ilulissat – A UNESCO Icefjord Experience 

Morning:

Depart from Kiattua, taking in the last moments of serenity before returning to Nuuk by boat.

Midday:

Meet with facilitators for one-on-one integration sessions, providing support and guidance as you process your experiences.

Afternoon:

Check into Hotel Icefiord, a boutique hotel offering stunning views over Disko Bay. Every room overlooks the water, where icebergs silently drift past.

Evening:

Take a guided UNESCO Icefjord Walk, following a wooden boardwalk that leads to the stunning Sermermiut viewpoint. This landscape, shaped by one of the world’s most active glaciers, has been home to Inuit settlements for over 4,000 years.

Dinner:

Enjoy a warm and inviting dinner in Hotel Icefiord’s restaurant, featuring Greenlandic specialties like reindeer, musk ox, and fresh Arctic fish, paired with carefully selected wines.

Day 7: Boat Journey to Saqqaq – Into the Arctic Wilderness 

Morning:

Enjoy a slow breakfast with freshly baked bread, smoked fish, and Arctic herb teas before embarking on a spectacular boat journey north.

Midday:

ravel along the rugged coastline, navigating through iceberg-filled waters and breathtaking fjords. If conditions allow, we will pass by the Torsukattak and Eqi Glaciers.

Afternoon:

Arrive in Saqqaq, a small, traditional Greenlandic settlement where daily life revolves around fishing and a deep connection to the sea. Unlike Kiattua’s remote wilderness, Saqqaq offers insight into Greenlandic village life—where sled dogs roam the shoreline, colorful wooden houses dot the landscape, and families have lived off the land and sea for generations.

Late Afternoon:

Walk among the stone cairns and wooden coffins of a centuries-old  graveyard where Greenlandic beliefs of life and death intertwine. 
A rare glimpse into Inuit burial customs, where skulls and bones are visible, reflecting a profound respect for nature and the passage of time.

Evening:

A freshly prepared dinner at camp.

After Dinner:

Gather for drinks by the fire, and for those traveling in September, there’s a chance to witness the Northern Lights dancing above the Arctic landscape.

Day 8: Exploring Ujarasussuk & Arctic Paddling 

Morning: Boat Tour to the Abandoned Settlement of Ujarasussuk

Cross the Vaigat Strait to Ujarasussuk, an abandoned Inuit settlement where a chapel, school, and homes stand as silent reminders of Greenland’s colonial past.

Lunch: Foraging for Blue Mussels

Collect fresh blue mussels along the rocky shores, learning how Arctic tides shape this traditional harvest. Later, enjoy a warming bowl of mussel soup, prepared from the morning’s catch.

Afternoon: Paddleboarding & Iceberg Experience

Stand on a paddleboard or an iceberg, gliding through Disko Bay’s silent waters, surrounded by floating ice sculptures. Feel the rhythm of the Arctic as you move across the glassy surface.

Day 9: Fishing, Cliffside Dining & Cultural Encounters 

Morning: Catch Your Lunch – Deep-Sea Fishing

Fish for Arctic cod in Saqqaq’s clear waters with guidance from your guide. Your fresh catch will be prepared for dinner at camp.

Lunch: Igaasaq – Cliffside Greenlandic Fish Feast

Enjoy a traditional Igaasaq meal, where fresh fish is boiled in seawater and served on the rocks. Alongside the catch, the chef prepares additional dishes to suit all tastes.

Afternoon

Meet Greenlandic Sled Dogs: Visit a local sled dog enclosure, where you’ll meet these hardy Arctic animals. Learn about their role in Greenlandic survival, from traditional hunting to modern-day.

Experience the Heart of Greenland in a Local Home: Step into a Saqqaq family home and hear first-hand stories of village life, its challenges, and deep ties to the land and sea—an intimate glimpse into one of the world’s most remote communities.

Day 10: Return to Ilulissat & Free Time to Explore 

Morning:

Begin the day with a boat ride back to Ilulissat, cruising past floating icebergs and vast Arctic landscapes.

Midday:

Arrive back in Ilulissat and check in at Hotel Icefiord.

Afternoon:

Free time to explore Ilulissat at your own pace—wander the town, visit local museums, or browse Greenlandic artisan shops for souvenirs.

Evening:

Enjoy a final dinner at Hotel Icefiord, reminiscing about the journey while watching icebergs drift through Disko Bay.

Rakel – A Shaman of Greenlandic Ancestry

Rakela comes from a long line of shamans in Greenland’s remote northeast. She carries forward the practices of angakkuassarneq, the Greenlandic shamanic path rooted in the interconnectedness of all life. Guided by ancestral wisdom, Rakel’s work is deeply connected to Greenland’s natural elements and spirits.

Rakela’s Role in the Retreat:

Leading shamanic ceremonies and rituals based on Inuit traditions.

Teaching the healing properties of Arctic plants like Artemisia and Rhodiola Rosea.

Sharing ancient Greenlandic myths to foster connection and insight.

Meet Your Spiritual Guides

Aniko Bendek – Psychedelic Therapist and Sound Healer

Aniko is a psychedelic therapist with an MSW from Columbia University and over five years of experience facilitating transformative sound ceremonies. She specializes in creating safe and supportive spaces for clients working in non-ordinary states of consciousness, using overtone-rich instruments, breathwork, and soundscapes. Aniko’s training includes work with Polaris Insight Center, MAPS, and Horizons PBC.

Rakela’s Role in the Retreat:

Guiding immersive sound healing journeys with instruments like gongs and chimes.

Facilitating plant medicine ceremonies with care and therapeutic support.
